Calling all Eastern Pennsylvania District tennis players who work for a company and know of any other tennis players working for companies and who want to form a team.
Middle States Corporate League
"It's fun and fitness at the same time. You can learn tennis after work. If you're an intermediate player, you can compete in weekly matches against other teams. We're seeking to form a league of adult corporate recreational teams from the Eastern Pennsylvania District of Allentown and Stroudsburg area.
Tennis players who work for companies and want to meet and compete with other tennis players may join the Middle States Corporate League. The players form a team, which competes with players from other companies indoors in winter and outdoors the rest of the year," said Bambi Dudley, who came up with the league concept and has started similar leagues in Kentucky and New York City.
The format is similar to Team Tennis and allows players of mixed playing skills to play on the same team. Each team may have women and men. At each meeting, the teams field singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Format is no-ad scoring in pro sets of eight or 10 games per set.
Top two teams from each city qualify to play at the annual Regionals at Bethany Beach in Delaware in the spring (May 17-19, 2002 is the next Regional Championship). The last two years, Consistent Returns of Reading won the championship. Lisa Eways is captain of the Reading team. To contact Lisa Eways, email her at lisasett1@aol.com .
