Mitch Weissbein - USA Pathways Coordinator

Recent  E P D  U S A  Tennis Pathway Program

The USTA USA Tennis Pathway is the primary focus of the USA Tennis Plan for Growth, a five-year $50 million commitment to increase tennis participation in communities across America.

Mitch Weissbein is the USA Tennis Coordinator in the Eastern PA District.
His mission is to promote and develop the sport of tennis for customers; schools, clubs, parks,

local community tennis associations, and National Junior Tennis Leagues, by providing support for accessing resources; grants, program incentives, curriculum, ad slicks, posters, prizes/awards, and scholarships.

The USA Tennis Plan for Growth, spearheaded by the USTA in partnership with the Tennis Industry Association, is the most ambitious initiative ever proposed to promote and develop the growth of tennis in the United States.

The initiative is well on its way to shattering its goal of introducing 800,000 new players to tennis and increasing the number of frequent players by one million by the end of year 2002.

More than 261,000 new players were introduced to tennis in 1999 through the USA Tennis 1-2-3 program. In just two years, the initiative has attracted more than 463,000 Americans to tennis, significantly above the two-year goal of 260,000.

The USA Tennis Pathway begins with a free tennis lesson to spark interest in the sport.

The USA Tennis 1-2-3 program follow with six weeks of fun and affordable lessons. Players then move on to USA Team Tennis for round-robin play and skill improvement. The next step is USA League Tennis or USA Tournament Tennis.
