United States Tennis Association

Community Partnership STRATEGIC INVESTMENT Grant

Request for Proposal

Background Information

The following Request for Proposal (RFP) seeks well established community based organizations to partner with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to meet the following objectives: increase tennis participation, support tennis programming, and foster diversity with both participation and programming.  The USTA will award grants to selected organizations that present a clear vision for establishing community based partnerships to meet these objectives.  This opportunity is a result of collaboration and support by multiple USTA National grant administrators from different departments who see the need for a holistic and coordinated effort at building tennis communities (see enclosed diagram).  As such, we are seeking multi-organization collaborations that involve all parts of the tennis community and that catalyzes non-USTA financial investment.

Proposals should incorporate three distinct elements.  First, organizations must demonstrate a commitment to building sustainable public and private sector partnerships.  Second, the proposal should illustrate a methodology for measuring tennis growth and participation through the work of those partnerships.  Third, applicants should present a clear vision for catalyzing on non-USTA sources of revenue to meet their objectives.  Grants will range from $40,000-$50,000 and will be renewable for up to three years based on satisfactory progress.  Following this period, these organizations are expected to be self-sustaining without additional USTA funding.

Proposals should provide detailed responses to the following questions in no more than eight (8) 8 ˝” x 11” pages, single spaced with 12 point font.
