2001 Junior Tournament  Highlights

Professional Certification 

The District 11 Scholastic Girls Tennis Championships were held at Westend Racquet Club in October. Congratulations to all the players who competed.

In the Girls Singles Class 3A:

Semifinals- Liz Dibbs (Emmaus) defeated Laura Levan (Parkland) and Megan Breen (Stroudsburg) defeated Lindsey Puchyr (Parkland).

Finals- Megan Breen (Stroudsburg) defeated Liz Dibbs (Emmaus).

In the Girls Singles Class 2A:

Semifinals- Liz Rampolla (Saucon Valley) defeated Stacy Lipschutz (Moravian Academy) and Isabel Stepniak (Moravian Academy) defeated Alexa Baggio (Southern Lehigh).

Finals- Isabel Stepniak (Moravian Academy) defeated Liz Rampolla (Saucon Valley).

 

In the Girls Doubles Class 3A:

Championship- Lindsey Puchyr and Laura Levan (Parkland) defeated Amanda Bloch and Caroline Hornbake (Easton).

Consolation- Ashley Nissenbaum and Suzanne Young (Allen) defeated Amanda Bedway and Erika Guers (Blue Mountain).

 

In the Girls Doubles Class 2A:

Championship- Liz Rampolla and Devon Goodrich (Saucon Valley) defeated Katie Muething and Mary McHugh (Becahi).

Consolation- Alisa VanMeter and Claudia Bohdal (Notre Dame-ES) defeated Stacy Lipschutz and Julie Stein (Moravian Academy).

 

In the Girls Team Championships Class 3A:

Parkland defeated Stroudsburg and will represent District 11 at the

State Team Championships, which will be held in Altoona beginning

October 27.

In the Girls Team Championships Class 2A:

Moravian Academy defeated Bethlehem Catholic and representrd District 11 at the State Team Championships, which will be held in Altoona beginning October 27.

In August 2001, the 17th Annual Zeller Memorial tennis tournament was held at the Westend Racquet Club in Allentown, PA. 
The winners included:

During the week of August 4th, 11 players who train at Adams International Tennis Academy, along with Bill Adams and several parents went to St. Lucia to participate in an ITF Tournament. Our "locals" did a fine job! The participants included:

 In other tournament reports:

Winners! Frank Velazquez, Jermaine (Giant) Smith, and Kevron Bennett… All 3 of these young men train at Adams International Tennis Academy in Allentown, PA. In  September 2001, Frank began his studies at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, having received a full scholarship. Frank is from Aruba. Giant played three tournaments in the summer of 2001, including the Atlantic City Open where he made it to the quarter finals in the men’s singles open division, the Bedford Tournament in New York where he also made it to the quarter finals, and the Harrisburg Open where he made it to the semis. "Giant" also plays Davis Cup tennis for Jamaica. Kevron won the boy’s 18 doubles in an ITF World Junior Ranking Tournament held in Jamaica. He is a native of Jamaica.
