District 11 Scholastic Girls Tennis Championships were held at Westend
Racquet Club in October. Congratulations to all the players who
competed.

In August 2001, the 17th
Annual Zeller Memorial tennis tournament was held at the Westend Racquet
Club in Allentown, PA. The winners included: Boy’s 12-under Champion: Boys 14-under Champion: Numit Agarwal Runner-up: Drew Balshi Boy’s 16-under Champion: Boy’s 18-under Champion: Girl’s 12-under Champion: Jill SaundersRunner-up: Michelle Perez Girl’s 16-under Champion: Megan Breen Girl’s 18-under Champion: Laura Levan During the week of August 4th, 11 players who train at Adams International Tennis Academy, along with Bill Adams and several parents went to St. Lucia to participate in an ITF Tournament. Our "locals" did a fine job! The participants included: Boy’s 18-under: Sam Ghia Semifinalist Kevron Bennett Quarterfinalist Kevin Wenck Chris Spencer Kyle Dougherty Girl’s 18-under: Girls 18-doubles: Lindsey Puchyr - semifinalist Boy’s 16-under: Boy’s 14-under: In other tournament reports: Winners! Frank Velazquez, Jermaine (Giant) Smith, and Kevron Bennett… All 3 of these young men train at Adams International Tennis Academy in Allentown, PA. In September 2001, Frank began his studies at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, having received a full scholarship. Frank is from Aruba. Giant played three tournaments in the summer of 2001, including the Atlantic City Open where he made it to the quarter finals in the men’s singles open division, the Bedford Tournament in New York where he also made it to the quarter finals, and the Harrisburg Open where he made it to the semis. "Giant" also plays Davis Cup tennis for Jamaica. Kevron won the boy’s 18 doubles in an ITF World Junior Ranking Tournament held in Jamaica. He is a native of Jamaica. |
